The Cocoanut plant is abundantly available in the coastal belt of Odisha. The Coir fibre coming from Cocoanut Plants is treated as a famous local & indigenous raw Material available in many parts of Coastal Belt of Odisha. The Coir products is having a large scale of marketing facilities in different commercial platforms in Odisha and also other parts of the country . Another plus point is that the Coir product has been turned into favourable eye catching fashionable items creating immense base in the foreign countries encouraging the export features . The Women from Self help Groups can best be introduced with the said crafts for self employment and income generation programs. The Raw Material is adequately available for promotion of such activity. Thus, in view of such favourable background “S.P.FOUNDATION” the Coir trainings for the SHGs Women beneficiaries particularly facilitating such Art & Crafts techniques on the aspects of Coir materials:- such as Coir Toys, mats, Ropes, coir decorative materials, Coir Window screens including other domestic articles for the purpose of decreasing unemployment problems creating income generation programs especially at rural point . The organization organized 8 nos of Training camps at Nimapara, Gop. Kakatpur, Astaranga and Puri Sadar Blocks of Puri district . The deserving Women Candidates from the Self Help Group members were identified for the purpose of such training. A total of 290 Women beneficiaries were participated from the above mentioned blocks of Puri district. Technical & Professional Experts & Master Crafts persons having experience in Coir Sector were invited to conduct the scheduled trainings. The Organization invited representatives from Local financing institutions, Industry Centres, Local Govt. Officers including concerned PRI Members to encourage the participants for successful achievement of the programs.
