TRAINING ON HANDICRAFTS

During conduct of Baseline Survey in the project area, it was revealed that, the traditional Artisans working in Rural Areas are leading with a distressed life since their traditional production techniques do not keep pace with this modern society . Their traditional product is being treated as slow moving items and the customers are discouraged after going through the said products. Following the above mentioned negative and persistent affairs of the Rural Artisans, the Society decided to conduct regular Training camps in these areas providing update information about modern technology & process of new strategy of production and simultaneously marketing. There are a total of 6 nos of Training Camps organized in the district of Puri involving 5 Gram Panchayats such as: Dhaleswar, Antuar, Bhilligram , Terundhia and Bhogasalada of Nimapara Block . In this regard, the Society has already organized Self help Groups from traditional Artisan families’ and selected deserving Artisans for training purpose. SHGs Groups. The persons having expertise in the field of Arts & Crafts were engaged for trainings. The artisans from local villages sponsored for the training are 140 women and 50 male members from different SHGs. Among the selected Crafts, Coir, Appliqué, Terracotta, Palm Leafs, Soft Toys, Sea Shell etc. are covered during the training program.
